Sunny Saturday

It was supposed to be a weekend of storms, but as you can see from the pics, that was as far from the truth as you could get.

It was pretty hot and Andrew was at work so I felt sorry for my kids, who were bored as well, and packed them up in the car with a picnic and we headed to Rockingham beach. It was a good day for it as there was a market, tho they were overpriced, and bouncy castles and all that fun stuff for kiddies.
Ethan was a bit of a pain as he refused to get out of pyjama top and put any pants on Grrr

Insomnia

God I crave a good nights sleep at the moment.
Cant blame any kids that need my attention during the night coz they are old enough not to need me anymore.
Cant blame the tv coz its off by 10 oclock.
Cant blame the computer coz it doesnt interest me enough anymore to have me sitting there for hours on end.
Its just plain old insomnia!!!
I never was a very good sleeper but since my pregnancy with Ethan, Ive found it increasingly harder than I ever have before in my life. Im never asleep before 1am and no matter how much housework I do, or how much hot choco I drink, it never seems to make me tired. And even when Ive had a busy day and am so tired that my eyes are bulging out of their sockets, guaranteed, Im still awake early hours of the morning. The only time Im asleep at a decent hour is after days of sleeplessness and my body cant hack it anymore.
AAARGH!!

A positive start

A wonderful thing happened today.
Ethan has started to use the toilet!!
I do concede that he had one accident but he spent most of the day nappy free.
Yippee Yeeha Lah-de-da :D
Its very exciting that our nappy changing days are nearly over but at the same time a bit sad as this new milestone in Ethans life means that for the 1st time in 13 years, I wont have a baby.
Oh well Ill get over it, and anyway, there are always other peoples babies!!
Here are a few photos of my son from birth till now

A taste of home

Once again, the Kangabarrons had a nice cruisy weekend.
On Saturday Karleen, Trinity, Patience, Ethan,Maddisyn and I went to Freemantle where there was a big fair thingy on to celebrate New Zealand Day, which in actual fact, is what we call Waitangi Day back home. Funny thing is that there were even New Zealand day t-shirts being sold. Now I know that Waitangi Day is sort of NZs official day but the Aussies celebrate this day with us here. Well I think its weird anyway.
The day started with a powhiri (maori opening) and the the stage had a variety of performers throughout the day, as you do. There were a bunch of stalls selling a variety of NZ food and maori stuff as well as a heap of bouncy castles, pony rides, a big rock climbing thingy, little ride around jeeps and even Old McDonald's farm joined in the celebrations.
Karleen and I ordered us a bunch of hangis and then sat down and munched on steamed pudding (with peaches and whipped cream yum yum) and whatever else we could get our hands on. I bought Andrew a large framed photo of the All Blacks with the Bledisloe cup and we had heaps of fun watching this wonderful maori group perform. Even the kids sat down at the front and watched the haka in awe. It was so exhilarating. It was nice to immerse myself in a bit of my culture for a while. We finished off the day letting the kids ride and drive and bounce. Needless to say that they were asleep 10 mins into our ride home. Have got photos and will post as soon as possible.
Got home and we waited for our husbands to come home after their day of fishing. Andrew bought home a shark and a squid that Dave Doyle had caught YUCK!!
Saturday we went to the markets with my bro Hopa, about 40mins from home. Man it was massive! we even had to catch a bus from the car park. We left with an assortment of stuff, but more importantly, a baby budgie for Kaytlynn. Managed to talk Maddy out of a goldfish and a rabbit WHEW

A wonderful weekend

We had a nice weekend. Andrew and I went out to dinner Friday night and had a lovely few hours kiddie free, and just talking and enjoying the freedom whilst eating nachos and surf n turf and finished off the night visiting with Liane and Dave while we waited for Kyla to finish at youth group.
Saturday Andrew worked for a few hours and then we went out and did some frivolous shopping (my man does spoil me so). It was very very hot, 40+ degrees I think, but even so, at 4 oclock, Andrew packed up his tackle, grabbed his fishing rod and hat and went fishing at Pt Peron with my brother Davy, while the kids and I lounged around in air conditioning. We finished off the night with homemade smoothies and dvds on the Plasma. Perfect.
Today started off early as Andrew was on the hunt for a new work car. He came home the owner of a Ford Falcon. Woohoo a couple more weeks of savings and it will be my turn for a new car. We spent the rest of the day cleaning and moving stuff around the house as I rearranged things. Mum and our niece Sharleen arrived today, mum for a holiday and Sharleen to live with her dad. Its good to see some family other than the brood that already surrounds Andrew and I. The size of my family is enough to put some people off, but now that Andrew has been around us for so long, he takes it all in his stride. And anyway we contribute quite considerably to that size!!! They brought some lovely photos of our new nephew Stacey and Our nieces Jayda and Skye. Once I can be bothered to scan them I will post them so that you can all have a look.
All in all it was a lovely weekend. Made even more enjoyable by the fact my darling only had to work a few hours instead of a full weekend. Hope everyones weekend was just as enjoyable. Good way to rest up for the coming week.
p.s.
Have you ever had something backfire on you through no fault of your own? Ive come to the conclusion that the effort put in only made you stronger and makes you appreciate the good things in your life that much more :D
Just a thought.

Yeeha!!

A very exciting and much anticipated day yesterday. BACK TO SCHOOL!!!

It has been a very long holiday this time round. After the buzz of xmas, new years and finally Kylas birthday, we were all holiday-d out and by the time yesterday arrived, we were all sooo ready for it.
The kids were all up early, me a bit later as I organised bags, lunchboxes, new uniforms and hats and assigned bags of stationary to the appropriate kids till late the night before (I promised myself to be better organised next year!) and by the time I crawled out of bed, they had all showered changed and eaten and all I had left to do was hair and lunches and myself!! so that was an added bonus.
They were dropped at their classes and then Karleen and I and our babies went to breakfast at a cafe on the waterfront. It was very quiet and relaxing and lovely.
Thank god the school holidays arent forever.
