Its been a while..

Dont you just hate it when you have everything planned down to a T and it just all falls apart or sets you back alot? or things happen and you have to review something that youve spent the last god knows how many months thinking about? Its such bullshit.

And then your kids do something that puts a smile on your face and pulls you out of the sad cycle of self pity. And that pity disappears straight away as you bask in the unspoilt, innocent love they have to give you tenfold.

Its been a while since Ive posted anything but now on this quiet Sunday night, with the kids in bed, I finally find the time to post a little about whats been going on with everyone the past ten days.

The last time you all heard, Kyla and Maddy were temporary invalids. Kyla was home for a couple of days but Maddisyn ended up staying home for nine week days!! And she drove me nuts. Im sure that she loved the permenant frown and stern words that were fixed on my face for that whole period! I was practically begging her doc to let me send her back to daycare.

In that week Ethan and my nephew Treagan also picked up this terrible virus that bascically had me cleaning up vomit and poo nonstop while trying to keep fluids up and keep temps down. The horrible thing about virul infections is that you cant give them meds to kill it, you just have to let the body do it, while you clean up the mess yuck. And the craziest thing is that Maddisyn didnt catch it.

Then AJ and our flatmate Nathan both got the flu from working in the rain and walking in the rain and playing in the rain. So they were miserable and grumpy for a couple of days. So as a reward for putting up with everyone during their sickness, Andrew has insisted I take a weekend away for myself, away from him, and the kids, and the house. Im going to get my sister to come with me to a dayspa that Ive found up in the sunshine coast. Im so looking forward to a few days away.

Our beloved cat has been taken to kitty heaven. Poor thing had developed kidney failure and had to be put to sleep. We found out that he was probly sick when we got him and through tracking his vet checks from before we got him, found out that he had been put on a special diet etc to control it, but the bloody owner before us hadnt told us. I was so pissed that I rang her and nutted out. How bloody cruel and irresponsible, not to mention devestating for Katy who adored him. Though it felt like we were trading Tellis in for a healthier version, we got a 13wk old kitten for Katy who she has called Timmy.

Kyla is doing great at school. She has pleased her dad by making quite a few GIRLfriends but has countered that by taking him aside on Friday and asking him about a boy she wants to have as her boyfriend. He was pretty much stunned and then ended the conversation by saying he had to think about it. At least she came to him aye. We are looking into getting microchips implanted in the kids hands. It is a great fear for us that something will happen to one of them and it seems to be happening so regularly now where kids get snatched off the streets. And something that has propelled this line of thought to the foreground is the fact that Kyla is turning into a mallrat (hanging out at the mall after school). We cant really stop her, she so wants to continue fitting in so we give her the oppurtunity to do so twice a week.

Liam is going along great guns as well, loving life. Its so beautiful to watch happy kids enjoy life and love.

Well Im hoping now that everyone has been mended, I can finally go back to my original plan and get around to getting a job and re-educating myself. It will be so refreshing and something that Im so looking forward to finally being able to do YEEHA

No tears and a big whoopsie!!

A major milestone in Ethans life this morning. He actually wanted to stay at daycare! He went to his favorite teacher (shame. I cant even remember her name!) and just when I thought the tears were going to start, he cracked a massive smile and kissed and waved me off. It was so heartwarming to be able to leave him happy and content instead of tears and sad faces.

Unfortunately it was just him at school today as Maddisyn had an accident and was unable to go today as she had to head to the docs for a checkup.

Little miss maddy did one of the major kiddy sins and was running to the water cooler with a ceramic cup in her hand, slipped over and fell. She fell on the cup which broke and cut her hand. Its a pretty nasty cut but thankfully it isnt too deep and basically a superficial wound.

So she is home for the next week as it heals and I have the pretty impossible task of keeping it dry and clean so that it doesnt get infected. Wish me luck.

ps. Well its about 3 hours after I posted the 1st bit of this, and I have spent two of those hours at the A&E.

Went to pick Kyla up from school, and she was holding her hand bunched up in her school shirt. Curiously, I asked her what was wrong. Her answer; 'Mum I sliced my hand open in woodwork with a chisel'. So we picked the other kids up, then dad, then it was off to the hospital.

End result; they glued her hand together and now I have two children with bandages on the same hand. Nice start to the week for my poor littlies.

Updates

Well now that the kiddies have all settled back in school I thought Id give you updates on whats going on in their lives at the mo.

After a bit of a subdued start, Kyla has settled totally into school and is thoroughly enjoying it, especially now that she has made some friends. Unfortunately for her dad, most of them are boys, (only one girlfriend) but he is coping well, she just wont be having sleepovers :) . She is also getting a grip on her timetable and the sudden advance of schoolwork but she is coping real well and making us very proud. She is looking at doing some afterschool sports, probably league. At home she loves to listen to music, talk to us nonstop about the things going on in her life and argue with mum about everything else. Ahh teenagers. We had an altercation recently as she wants to start walking or bus-ing home from school. We declined her request but boy she put up a fight. That was untill she saw on the news the attempted abductions of various children around Brisbane in the past week (3 of them!!)

Kaytlynn is excelling at school, moreso since Kyla has left as she doesnt feel like shes in her shadow anymore. With the school being so small, that is inevitably how she ended up feeling. She is rebelling against a multitude of things, mainly homework hehe. But since there is no tv or playing untill all that is completed, she really has no choice but to buckle down. She is joining the netball team and is very excited about it. Unfortunately at home she is the troublemaker, provoking arguments and always ready to nark on the others but she is very hard to discipline as when she knows shes in trouble, she turns on the sweetness in abundance 'sigh'.

Liam is still the same. His schoolwork is coming along mighty fine, though I have to admit it is alot better than previous years. I think that now we are settled in one place, he is more confident in himself and that is showing through in his work. Homework is still a bit of a mission to get him to do tho. Im trying to encourage him into sports as well and his preference seems to be tennis, which he plays alot at school and really enjoys. While I get dinner ready, Andrew and our friend Nathan get them all outside playing a bit of touch rugby which even Ethan gets into, and it gets LJ away from the tv and his xbox!!

Maddisyn-Rose is a bit hormonal at the mo. If she is given a telling off or doesnt get what she wants or worse still its bedtime, she hits the floor in a flash and the screaming and pounding of the floor starts. Unfortunately she isnt the first to try it on us so because of our vast experience, we are able to difuse the situation relatively fast. Most times anyway. She is a bright girl at daycare and it seems that she might have inherited the artisic gene that her sister and Aunty Liane have. Some very lovely pieces of artwork come home. We are relieved that she has gotten back into the swing of daycare. It was hard for her once her cousins had all left.

Ethan has started to settle into daycare as well, not as many tears as in the beginning, smiling when I go to pick him up. He is finger painting, starting to sing along to songs at school (tho Im sure the words are in baby lingo), participating in group activities and basically going along mighty fine. At home he is a very cheeky little boy, getting into tons of mischief and basically has all our hearts in the palm of his little hand.

All in all our 'little' family is healthy and very very happy.

BoomBoom

BoomBoom as he walks cross the room.

BoomBoom as he plays crash derby with his cars and trucks.

BoomBoom as he fights with his siblings.

BoomBoomBoomBoom.

Ethan has a new nickname, chosen himself and very very apropriate we think. As Ive mentioned before our littlest is a very robust and energetic child. You always know when hes aproaching as nine times out of ten you can hear him before you see him.

At first I started calling him BoomBoom as a testament to his personality, but it was infrequent and just a offhand comment. But he liked it so much that he wouldnt respond unless I called him by that name. Now he only responds to Ethan when he knows hes in trouble and says 'BoomBoom bottbott' when he wants a bottle.

He also has another saying that is very popular with his mum. 'La you'(love you) which he always says to us when we tell him that we love him. He sounds so cute and we are so very proud how fast his vocab is developing.

I found this photo of him as I was reorganising our digital library. He is 3 and a half months here and it is one of my favorites.

Beautiful children

Though the holidays were hard with all the kids at home for so long, now that they are all attending school and daycare I find myself wishing for the constant noise, fighting and demands from mum.

Na but really maybe not!

Much as I do miss them all having them back at school and Ethan at daycare has opened the door for loads of possibilities for me to do something with myself. Once Ive gotten rid of this terrible ear infection that I have.

The kids have spent the last couple of days laughing at me. Due to my ear infection my balance has been terrible and I am forever walking into doorways etc. Of all the pain that Ive experienced in my lifetime this is the absolute worst!! Now I understand what Maddisyn feels whenever her ears play up. I reccomend the pain killers though :P

I took these photos as we were off to school. Maddy and Ethan are at home today since my driving has been restricted due to my medication and their daycare is too far away. Lucky the others are just down the road and not too far to walk/train.

The uniform Kyla is wearing is her PE uniform and the better than the skirt/check shirt I think. Then theres Maddy in her fairy dress that Poppa bought her.
