School Photos
Finally the kids school photos have come back YAY! Talk about a muck around. They were taken last term, we were supposed to get them the beginning of this term BUT the photographer that had taken the class photos had been using a faulty camera so they had to reshoot them in the 1st week of term. And they wouldnt even hand over the individual ones 1st. Useless.

Sorry nothing of Liam this time round, hes a bit sick. And Andrew looks pretty chirpy in these but a few hours later, hes got a high temp and his heads down the toilet!! so hes a bit sick too :)
Better photos to follow once i get the hang of this new camera.

Wednesday 17/10
Last week I had the good fortune to go to Challenge Stadium in Perth and attend the GOOD CHARLOTTE concert. And it was awesome!! The Thin Lips (???) and Kisschasey were the supporting bands and they were pretty good, but Good Charlotte rocked and sounded exactly the same as when you hear them on the radio, which definitely makes it worth spending the $$ to go and see them. Me and my mates had excellent seats too. Was a bit bummed though because Linkin Park was performing the next night and because I had already got my tickets for Good Charlotte, I wasnt able to go to that one as well. Oh well theres always next time :)

So much going on.....
Hello fellow bloggers, long time no blog, sorry bout that.
The weather is heating up here, dont know if thats a blessing or not but we are very grateful for air conditioning thats for sure!
The kids have been back at school now for just over a week. The holidays were as hectic as usual but for some reason wasnt as full on as usual, go figure.
We have had Maddisyn home from school since last Wednesday till Tuesday this week. She has major probs with her ear and had been diagnosed with a burst eardrum on Friday, but for some reason i didnt buy it as that causes excrutiating pain, from what her dad has said, but other than a high temp and liquid coming from the affected ear, the only thing that she has complained of was a bit of a headache, so we revisited the docs on Tues (a different one this time) and he has told us that she needs grommets again and specialists and such. Sooo he gives us a referral and i ring this place to set up an appointment and they are booked up for the rest of the year and i cant make an appointment for next year untill December. Suck. But, she seems ok now and is back at school and we just wait untill December.
But as one drama ends, another starts. We just get Maddy back to school and that same night, Ethan gets a temperature and comes up sick. I was able to sneak him into Maddys appointment and apparently he has the beginnings of glue ear (his ear is at the swollen stage rather than all the yucky liquid stage) so with early detection, we should be able to save anything going as bad as his sister. We have also shaved his head to a number 3 and now he looks exactly like his dad and brother. Once we had cut his hair, it went thick and real untidy, just like Andrews and Liams, sooo he got the same solution :) Ethan is also at daycare 3 times a week now and after a lot of resistance, the past couple weeks has been a breeze. He even waves me off now.
Liam has a new hobby. Maddisyn accidently broke his PS2 so now that he isnt in his room for hours on end, he has taken an interest in wrestling. In fact, everyone has, except for me and Katy. He also spends a lot more time outside, where he should.
Kaytlynn has had a setback the last week or so. Her uncle H got her a sizezble fishtank, for her birthday, complete with pumps and pretty lights and so forth, and also gave her some cash to get the fish with. Well to save her some $$ she convinced her dad to give her Ethans small fish (a pressie along with a small round bowl, from uncle H as well for his birthday) To cut the story short, the fish disappeared and were found in the pump. She was soooo upset.
Kyla is barrelling through teenagehood like a bull in a chinashop. She wants to start going to concerts and is wearing makeup 24/7 (Does anyone remember the tomboy Kyla who wouldnt be caught dead in a dress let alone wear makeup!!) I dont mind the lipgloss and the nailpolish but she has now graduated to eyeliner (panda eyes style) and foundation, both of wich make her look about 15-16. sigh

Life As It Is At the Mo
Hello hello everybody.
Things are going swimmingly well for us all here in Perth at the moment. I still havent had a chance to get another camera so once again, you are all stuck with my ramblings for the moment.
Sickness has swept thru the household. You would think that this would be more typical during the winter months but it seems that as soon as we say hello to spring, we have all started hitting ours sick beds. I got a bit of pneumonia last week and that knocked me for a couple of days. It was horrible and I was so grateful once I had been able to shake it off. Ethan has had a bit of an up and down temperature and grotty nose for the last week and a half as well as a bit of a cough but other than all that he is basically the same. Kaytlynn is the one that is worrying us. She has a horrible hacking cough that makes us cringe every time we hear it. Unfortunately unless someone is dying over here, its virtually impossible to get a same day appointment at the docs so we have to wait untill next week grrr. But it doesnt seem to bother her as much as it does me and her dad.
Ethan is now at daycare 2 days a week. He is finding it hard as he has been horribly spoilt and has always had either mum or dad with him every second of the day. It was quite sad. On monday I went to pick him up and as I walked through his classroom to the outside playground, I saw him through the sliding door, sitting in the corner with Patience (yep she goes there too) and they both had their heads in their hands and were just quiet, not talking, just staring into space. It was so sad but as Ive been told, he will get used to it hehe.
Im also working part time at the moment. The feeling of being out there and doing things is so liberating and Im loving it, even the 3am starts. But at the same time, this working for a living is bloody hard work, especially when you havent done it for so long hey.
The kids had their school photos today. Will scan and show you all when we get them back.
We celebrated Ethans birthday on fathers day (which was his birthday too). He had a wonderful day the day before with his little cuzzies and friends and then he went and stayed the night with his Uncle Davy, Aunty Karleen and Nanna Ann (the kids surrogate grandmum, who is Karleens mum. They call her nanna which is fine with us as she is a wonderful nanna to them). It was a real treat for Andrew and I to have the whole night to ourselves as my brother Hopa had the rest of our tribe. But Andrew had them all home bright and early the next day, before I had even gotten out of bed, and we spent the rest of the day pampering both Andrew and Ethan, the lucky buggers. Thanks to you all that made the effort to show how much you love our beautiful son with your birthday cards and emails. You are all a wonderful and much loved part of our family no matter where you are. We cant believe our baby is 3. And the week after next, Kaytlynn is 11, and that covers our birthdays for the year. Thank god.
Hope all is well out there.
Sending you all our thoughts and tons of kisses,

Missions
With the tax man hitting us in the pockets, I have decided to get out there and help my lovely man pay the bills. So at the moment its writing resumes and finding somewhere to send them off and hopefully be employed soon enough. The only worry is being able to find daycare for my son as the ones that I have contacted so far have enormous waiting lists. But my mum arrived on Saturday so hopefully she will be able to help out. And then theres the hours that I will be available to work as I still need to be there for the other kids before and after school. I wouldnt mind doing night work but Andrew is not so keen as he doesnt like the idea of us never seeing each other. But like they say, where theres a will theres a way :)
Another mission at the moment is the clash of personalities that is going on in the household. Whoever said that having so many kids wasnt so bad was crazy. Ooops hang on a minute, that crazy was me lol. Kyla and I are constantly fighting. Its like I try to assert some authority and she just doesnt want to know. As long as I am saying yes to her its all good but as soon as I say no, its like a bomb going off. For a child her age and compared to the upbringing that I had, the freedom that she has to do things and stuff is enormous and I think that she should consider herself very lucky. But Im starting to learn that the more you give a 13 year old, the more they want and be prepared for the fallout if you dont confer to their so called needs. So at the moment she is grounded, even unable to attend her youth group, untill she appreciates the things that shes allowed to do and starts to show me a bit more respect. Is that bad?. Feels like it is sometimes.
My darling sweet soft spoken and quiet Kaytlynn is gone. She has become argumentative and loudly outspoken and loves to provoke her sisters and brothers. But she still has that sweetness about her that difuses any growling that her dad tries to bestow on her and once again I am the bad guy as I enforce the fact that she cant do that to them. So Im the one that sees her tears and sees her back as she storms off to her room sigh.
Liam hasnt changed much and is still the quiet older son who loves his playstation. He has also started helping with the dishes and I must say that he sometimes does a better job than his sisters.
As for Maddisyn-Rose, well where do I start. She doesnt like sleeping in her bed, doing anything to help even a little around the house, and her favorite sentence is 'I hate you mum!' She defys her dad every chance she gets and if she doesnt want to do it, she will cry loud and for as long as you can handle grrr. Unfortunately she is very very spoilt. We are still trying to figure out how to deal with this very very strong personality that our youngest daughter posesses.
Well we all know what Ethan is up to these days as he is the main one that I seem to write about these days.
Even with all these different personalities happening at the moment, Andrew and I are very proud with our lovely tribe of children and enjoy trying to giude them through these early years of theirs. It all passes so fast.
BUT any suggestions from all family, friends and godparents are greatly appreciated.

Got A Real Haircut.....
Well last Wednesday, Ethan finally got all his hair chopped off. I just about cried as his blonde ends hit the floor but once I was over it, I had to admit that my son looked even more handsome and definitely a lot more like a nearly 3 year old. He was pretty chuffed with the new do and its definitely a lot more easier to maintain. It has gotten a fair bit thicker and a lot darker but it is definitely a lot lovelier.

Back to School
The kids went back to school yesterday. It was shitty weather and I really didnt want to send them but have to if you dont want the truancy officer on your door. Its a bit more scary for me at the moment as there is a new strain of flu going on here that has killed 4 kids to date. Only 3 of them had flu like symptoms but thats still 3 too many to me, so most of my kids were out of uniform as I made sure they were rugged up to the max. There was a bit of whining and protesting but I didnt care. Its amazing how scared you get when you have children, even about the little things. Jasper is at daycare. It was so cool this morning. Dave woke me up about 6:30 (it was the first time I had slept in since he had been dropping Jas off oops) and this time Jas gave me a big grin and practically jumped into my arms. As Ive mentioned before, hes usually quiet in the morning but not today. He then proceeded to follow me around the house, chatting away to me as I woke my children up from their slumbers and started the morning chores. I didnt really want to take him to daycare but if I didnt, Dave would have been paying for it anyway. Now the house is quiet as Ethan just bums around and the sound of Jaspers giggles and chatter arent here :(
Andrew cant wait untill his sister gets back as he thinks Im coping too well with 6 kids and doesnt want me getting any ideas now that I dont have a baby anymore. But I reassure him that thats not going to happen. I always have extra kids around but it is all the more appealing because they get to go home at the end lol.
Anyway, my camera shit itself yesterday so no new photos untill I can get a new one.

Another little thing......
The first day that I had Jasper, I kept having to remind myself that he was in nappies. With Ethan using the toilet by himself now, it just isnt at the forefront of my brain anymore. But dont worry Mum. The first one he presented me with was enough to make sure that it wasnt hard to forget hehe. Now its like I never stopped. Ive only had Jas a couple of days but I feel like Ive had him for always, hes fit in that well.
So thanks Liane and Dave, for trusting me enough to look after your precious son and giving us a chance to spend this time with him. Now, if only I can figure out a way to pry Miss Ruby from you :)

The 2 Musketeers
With his mum and little sister on holiday in New Zealand, I have had the privelage and pleasure of looking after Jasper while his Dad is at work.
Jas gets dropped off in the morning and because its early (being skool hols, my kids arent out of bed before 9), Im the only one awake to greet him. Its a bit cold in the mornings at the mo so I grab the blanket off my bed and try to set us up in front of cartoons for a while. Jas must think that me and blanket means him going to sleep and refuses to bunk down with me and has a bit of a grizzle. Hes really quiet in the mornings and a bit sullen and I know its because he misses him mum so much.
BUT all that changes when his big cousin gets up. As soon as Ethan rolls out of bed they are at it. Like this morning. Im sitting on the lounge floor playing twiddly fingers with JAS and all of a sudden he squeals delightfully and yells
'EEEF!'
and my sons reply of
'Hey Jaspa. You at my house again!'
while grinning widely at his cuz.Ethan always pronounces his name this way. Im suddenly invisible and the 2 do their morning ritual of catching up. After a bit, Ethan will announce that him and Jasper are wanting breakfast. This morning it was cereal 1st and then toast. So I give them their cereal and am doing their toast when I hear Ethan say to Jas
'No now look what youve done. My hoodie (his sentences are so grown up these days!)' and as I peek around the corner I see my son tip his bowl of breakky down the front of Jasper.
'Ethan! What did you do that for!'
'He put yuck hands on my hoodie mum'
'That doesnt mean you can do that to him!'
'Yes it does. Come on Jaspa. We go get changed'
GRRRR. He means me change them both AND clean up the mess. But they are so cute to watch and Im so grateful that they get to spend this time together. They spend the day playing and talking and poor Jas is happy to be bossed around most of the time. But Jas is still really happy to see his dad at the door at the end of each day.
Tomorrow is the 1st day of the new term and my brother has given me his 7 seater 4WD to cope with the extra child and carseat while I do the school run so I figure that after Ive been to the docs, Ill take him and Ethan and maybe Trinity and Patience for a toddlers trip out somewhere. Heres hoping the weather lets me.

Training update
Well we here at the Lazarus-Barron household are proud to inform you all that we are officially non buyers of nappies, pull ups or wipes. Yes the last of our tribe is toilet trained, including, and most importantly, during the night YEEHA. Ethan still has trouble telling us when he wants to do a number 2 and still needs help to get on and off the toilet, but other than that, we are nappy free sigh.

Whos the Baby now?
NOT ME!! (well almost)
Mummy has been strange the last few days. When I get up in the morning, she takes my pull-up off but instead of putting another one on me, she gives me my very own undies. They feel better than the pull up but its still a bit strange. Then as Im being dressed, mummy will say to me, 'Dont forget to tell me when you want to go to the toilet' and send me on my way. Iknow what a toilet is as mummy has tried this with me before but this time she says Im a big boy now and I need to be able to do this. And guess what? I do. I had an accident at the supermarket yesterday and Im having trouble telling mummy when I want to do a number 2, but otherwise, Im using the toilet all day YAY. And today, I had a big long sleep coz mummy and I got a trailer load of firewood and had to unload it all by ourselves so I got very tired. Mummy must have been tired too coz she forgot to put a pull up on me and I didnt wet the bed!! Mum was very happy and very proud and kept kissing me which was annoying. But mum is a little sad too as she says her baby is growing up, but Im loving learning all these new things.Dad says that once I have mastered this new skill, I get to move onto the next one.
I cant wait!

A 5 hour project
This is Miss Kyla having her hair streaked/lightened/dyed or whatever you want to call it. It took a veeery long time and it was lucky that Sharlene was able to help me out in the beginning before she got whisked off home. It came out a bit more blonder than you can see in the pic. Like I say to Andrew, it will probably be the 1st of many experiments that she will want to try.

Also i want to say hi to Liane and say how great she is going on her SureSlim program. I saw her yesterday and noticed that all her hard work is starting to pay off and the results are very encouraging for her. You will reach your goal in no time if you keep up the good work. You go girl!!

Life as we are living it : )
Hi everyone!!
Yes I no its been a long time since Ive updated our blog but better late than never I say.
Things have been going well for us here in Perth. I celebrated my birthday last weekend which was pretty good. Andrew threw a surprise bbq for me and I got some cool pressies and spent a few hours with just about everyone that was important to us. I have such a wonderful hubby xxx
The kids are all healthy and happy. Kaytlynn has started playing hockey and is really enjoying it. Unfortunately I got a bit annoyed as the school did a public weigh-in (dont ask me why) and when they took Kaytlynns weight, she was a healthy 61kgs and the other kids laughed at her. God kids can be such little #*#*#*#* when they want to be. Katy was quite upset but AJ, her uncles and aunties and I managed to boost her confidence again and she happily played her tournament the next day. They won 2 games out of 5 yay. She had her 1st sleepover here in Perth last night and had a wonderful night helping her friend Alysha celebrate her 11th birthday.
Kyla is busy freaking her dad out as she breezes through teenage-hood. Did I say breeze? Maybe for her. Kyla, my niece Sharlene and I did a couple of girlie hours yesterday at the mall as we chose some hair dye for Kylas hair. She had been on my back for ages to let her do it so I finally gave in. Kyla finally settled on a blonde hair lightening kit. What a mission!! It had a cap included; you know one of those hair caps with the holes in it. I thought that it would make the job easier but boy talk about time consuming pulling strands of hair thru little bitty holes with a little bitty hook thingy. It didnt help that this was the 1st time that I had ever dyed hair this way so lucky instructions were included :P The end result is pretty good so once I can pin her down long enough ill take a photo and share her new look. Has made her look older though, something that is freaking her dad out. School is going well for her as always. Our young brainchild.
Not much is happening with Liam at the moment. He is enjoying school but shying away from any sports activities. Not really showing any interest in anything right now. Hes into more of the technology era which is good but not. We encourage his friends coming to play and vice versa and get him out of the house and away from the PS2 and 3 and the computer as much as we can. Hes become a bit temperamental though (males dont do the PMS thing do they?) and continues to be a real daddys boy.
Maddisyn is going okay at school. She is attending more regularly as for a while there it was a real mission to get her there. She would cry and yell and become real emotional about it that it sort of made me think that something was happening at school. But when I approached the teacher about it, she assured me that all was well. So I started to make her go all the time and now she seems to be all good about it. I think maybe I was being taken for a ride..... Anyway, art is Maddys thing. Shes forever creating little pressies or drawings for Andrew and I and they are so beautiful that we will treasure them always. She seems to have the creative gift that Andrew and his family have.
Last is little Ethan. Hes growing big and strong and possesses the same outgoing attitude to life that his dad and Uncle Gerard have. Its funny isnt it. You and your partner make these little people but they can also posses the good (and sometimes the bad)bits from other family members as well as yourself. Ethan wants something in his life, he works hard to get it, whether it be by crying, tantrums, smiles or kisses, he gets there in the end. His hair is getting pretty long, to the point where everyone who doesnt know him, thinks hes a girl at 1st glance, even though hes dressed like a boy. We are reluctant to cut it as the blonde streaks in his hair compliments his looks so well that we want to hang onto it a little longer. Vain or what but I guess that as long as he continues to look like the same, we can hang onto our baby a little longer too. Or maybe not. His toilet training is at a standstill. I have been so lazy with it but Andrew is getting a little fed up with nappies. Our kids are usually toilet trained way before this age 'sigh' Soon, I promise.
As for Andrew and I, well we continue to enjoy the lifestyle that Perth enables us to have. Theres no place like home, but this will do us for now.
Hope that all is well with everyone. Sending you all our love and thoughts.

A bit of a catch up.
Well its been a pretty good last couple of weeks.
My sister Joanne and her son Stacie came to visit us all the way from New Zealand. They stayed with Karleen and Davy but we saw them regularly which was good.
Stacie was such a smiley and smoochy baby and such a pleasure to have around that it was hard for us to let his mum take him back home to NZ. Joanne seemed to have a pretty good visit too but with the rest of her family back home they eventually had to leave I guess.
As much as you love your children there is always things that will happen that will scare the shit out of you and that is known as one of the downfalls of having kids.
For example;
Sunday night I went to drop Joanne off at the airport, leaving the children in the more than capable hands of my husband and brother. From what I gather, at some point during the afternoon, while Andrew and Davy were watching their rugby, they realised that all the kids were in the lounge apart from Ethan. Andrew had been talking to him not long before. Anyway Andrew got up to go and search him out, but Ethan was nowhere to be found. They checked everywhere, even going as far as checking the neighborhood, but still no Ethan. After a while everyone was becoming frantic and the adults were on the verge of having heart attacks and calling the police when Andrew found him, curled up in the foetel position, right up against the couch in the darkest corner of the lounge on the floor, fast asleep, unaware of the panic he had caused for the past half hour.
Talk about a parents worst nightmare.

Full on
This weekend was pretty full on.
After an early wake-up on Saturday and a trip out to Henderson to see the launch of Silver, we rushed home to prepare the house for the onslaught of partygoers that were due later on that day to celebrate Liams 9th birthday.
Then while Andrew took Liam, Ethan and a couple of his friends to see Spiderman 3 (they met up with others at the theatre), I rushed out to do some last minute things before they all congregated back at my house. All of his pressies , other than the AFL ball that Aunty L and Uncle D got him, were Spiderman which was pretty cool. He even got us to buy him a PlayStation2 so that he could get the new Spiderman game that had just come out. We didnt realise till later that he could have played that same PS2 game on his dads PlayStation3!! Everyone seemed to have enjoyed the movie and after a lot of food and cake, we were all happy to just sit and chat amongst us adults while the kids caused havoc.
Andrew went around spraying everyones hair pink and purple, even Miss Ruby didnt escape! Unfortunately we were all too tired to grab the camera and take some shots, sorry.
There was a sweet moment there too where I was on the trampoline with Ruby and Jasper and was gently bouncing Ruby on my lap and her big bro was booinging all over the place like tigger and the giggles and sheer enjoyment on their faces was priceless. Unfortunately not priceless enough for anyone to grab the camera and take a shot or vid. Im sorry but by then we were all just so buggered!
Everyone finally left just after 6 and Andrew and I had a chance to wind down. Liam had his friends stay over as well.
Sunday was ok. My kiddies made me lovely homemade Mothers Day gifts which are way more precious than any thing they could have bought at a store. I really am the luckiest mum in the world.
ps. It was Karleens birthday yesterday and to celebrate, a few of us are off to the pub on Saturday for Ladies Nite. It includes a full buffet dinner and some nice men dancing. I will try to remember to get some photos of our night out :P

A Hard Years Work
Well finally, after a years worth of Andrew, Hopa, Davy and their trade assistants blood, sweat, and lots of moaning from their wives, this is the end result. A luxury yacht named Silver. Okay so they didnt do it ALL by themselves, but they shaped, prepped and final coated large parts of it, and earned the reputation of being one of the best teams in the business and so rightly deserved. Its a major accomplishment considering that the boat had been in the making for the last 2 years or so and their team had made such an impression that they have been given the job of the next boat similar to this. So proud of my husband and brothers.
The top few photos are of Silver leaving the shed where it was made. The two large trucks are what towed it to where it was to be put in the water. Its funny how the 1st truck is connected to the second truck, which has a veery long trailer on it to accomodate the yacht. Then its placed on the wharf (the two bottom photos) and then the trucks disconnect from the boat and the wharf is lowered beneath the boat untill its floating in the water and then towed out further by two tugboats(the last photo). A looong process!
The whole thing was covered in the State paper due to it being the largest boat that has been made in Western Australia. Once I find out where Andrew put his copy I will post it so that you can all read it
Ooooh
I found this photo from Karleens camera while i was borrowing it for a look and nicked it to put on my blog. This was taken during the school holidays while we had taken them for a day at the park.
It amazes me how well these two interact, they are so very close. Ethan can be so protective of her as she can be with him, and tho they have their bad days, the next day it will be all forgotten and they are best friends again. It so great to have two cousins grow together and know that the bond they share will probably br lifelong.

Photo
Not much has been happening in the Lazarus-Barron household.
Andrew works, I maintain the house and the kids go to school. Liams birthday is approaching fast and we have his birthday wishlist so that makes things easier. Then Andrews two weeks later aargh.
Here are one of the photos that the kiddies posed for the week before last. Wasnt too impressed with them but they were still worth getting. Have the rest on layby so once we have them, ill post them. Hate the fake smile that my oldest son has, but judging from some of his father when Andrew was younger, we all see where he gets it from!

Boys and their toys
Here are a couple of shots of Ethan and Jasper having fun IN the toy box! Ethan had a haircut yesterday (actually all of them had their 'back to school' haircuts) and Andrew is not too happy with Ethans, but like I say to him, it will grow back. And yes, Ethan did attend his cousins birthday in his pyjamas, Spiderman ones to be exact! Like to see you guys try to pry them off him. What is it about Spiderman that drives some kids obsessive?
Happy Birthday Ruby xxxxx
Tonite we had the pleasure of helping Ruby celebrate her very 1st birthday.
A little bit late (but not too much!) we arrived and gave the birthday girl lots of kisses and cuddles and her gift. It was quite funny because as I sat down with Ruby and Liane, I noticed a pop up toy that they had given Ruby. Lucky, because I was thinking of getting her the same thing, and Liane reckoned that they were looking at getting the same bath toy thingy that we had given her. That wouldve been funny :)
Anyway we did the photos and the cake and the party and by then the birthday girl was pretty much buggered, what with all the noise and excitement. Oh and Liane had given the kids these cute shaped sparklers to light. And then of course, someone gave Andrew the job of lighting them and showing the kids some 'cool' tricks. Just a big boy at heart that 30something year old is. And Ruby looked so pretty in her party dress.
